It’s fig season! These delectable little bundles of joy are ready for picking and best of all eating. I love them fresh off the tree, but there are so many delicious ways to eat them.

Here’s my favourite four, quick and easy fig recipes.

*Simple but totally moorish .. cut your figs in half length ways and sprinkle over some brown sugar, cinnamon and freshly picked chopped rosemary. Pop them in the oven and bake until they are sticky, around 15 minutes, take them out and drizzle with honey, serve with vanilla ice cream or coconut ice cream.

This recipe is best on oat crackers but you can use any sort of dense cracker. Slice your perfectly ripe figs into quarters. Slice some blue brie into cubes, place onto the crackers and top with a basil leaf, then drizzle with runny honey and sprinkle with cinnamon to serve.

fig jam with cut figs and whole figs

*Make a fig jam that’ll goes marvellously with both sweet and savoury dishes. I love this recipe from prettysimplesweet.com. However I add a tablespoon of diced crystallised ginger to the recipe and reduce the sugar by a quarter of a cup.

*Last but not least, fresh figs sliced in half warmed in the oven with a drizzle of honey and lemon oil (about 10 minutes), take out and top with labneh* or room temperature brie, sprinkle over with chopped almonds or pistachio’s.

**Labneh is a cheese made from thickened yogurt, it’s very easy to make and is totally delicious when served with figs. Here’s the recipe I make, without the addition of oil at the end. All you need is some cheese cloth, greek yoghurt, salt and lemon juice – so easy and so yum!
